Add a New Host Configuration for Oracle EBS

The following General Ledger application settings apply to all users licensed to use the General Ledger feature, when using an Oracle General Ledger type, or, when processing the General Ledger or Spreadsheet Writeback feature. This article describes how to add a Host configuration.

  1. From the Application Configurator panel, select the Application Settings tab. The Application Settings panel appears.
  2. Click the Oracle EBS tab.
  3. To create a new host configuration, from the ribbon, click the New button. The system adds a new host configuration in the navigation pane, and the Oracle EBS > Host Configuration panel appears.
  4. Use the following table to enter data in the Oracle EBS > Host Configuration panel:
  5. Field

    Description

    User Name (Typically APPS)

Specify the user name to be used to connect the database. This user must have access to all applicable Oracle GL files. If necessary, a user with read-only access to the GL files may be created in the Oracle database.

    Password

    Specify the user password.

    Host Name/IP Address

Specify the server name or IP address.

    Oracle SID

Specify the Oracle Service Name where the database is located (for example, VIS).

    Oracle Port

Specify the port number (for example, 1521).

    Application User Name

Specify the user ID to be used for testing authority to responsibilities and tables.

    Language

Specify the language to be used for testing various components of the configuration (for example, segments or sets of books).

    Direct Connect

If selected, the insightsoftware-provided direct connect option is used to access the database. Otherwise, the Host Name/IP Address, Oracle SID, and Oracle Port fields are replaced with Oracle Service Name.

Use Global Software Indexes and Legacy Parent Processing

If selected, insightsoftware-recommended indexes are used to retrieve account balances. Otherwise, GL_Periods is used to retrieve balances, and subquery is used to process parent hierarchies. If experiencing poor performance, disable this option.

Set as default connection for Spreadsheet Server formulas

Sets the connection as the default connection to be used in Spreadsheet Server formulas.

    Support Unicode Characters

If selected, code is implemented to support unicode characters for the connection.

    RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support

If selected, the system connects to the database using the Service Name/RAC defined in the RAC Server Connection Definition field. This field is only enabled when the Direct Connect option is selected.

Note: If this option is selected, a panel appears, allowing the user to select (highlight) the server connection to be used for RAC support. Once selected, click OK to populate the RAC Server Connection Definition field.

    RAC Server Connection Definition

Specify the server connection(s) to be used for RAC support. This field is only enabled when the RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support option is selected.
