Build a Template GXL Using Shift Existing Data
The following example demonstrates using the Shift Existing Data option when processing a GXL
formula template Formula Builder. This option is used to insert the required rows and columns used for a GXL
formula to an existing non-Spreadsheet Server worksheet. It inserts the GXL
formula in the target cell and the ledger and segment specific data to newly inserted columns and rows to the top and to the left of the existing worksheet data.
- Start with an existing non-Spreadsheet Server worksheet in Excel. Select the cell to be populated with a formula (for example,
B4
in the below screenshot), from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, click the Formula Builder button. The Formula Builder panel appears. - The Starting Cell field displays the previously-selected cell in the worksheet. Select the Shift Existing Data option from the Clear/Shift Worksheet drop-down list.
- Enter the appropriate values in the Formula Builder panel.
- Click the Insert button. The panel closes and the column and row parameters, and formula are added to the existing worksheet.
